What is vaping?

What is an Electronic Cigarette and What is 'Vaping'

Smoking just HAS to have been the greatest con-trick in history.  The marketing pitch seems to be 'pay us loadsa money so we can kill you.  Not quickly, mind.  Then our income dries up.  No - slowly - that way the money just keeps on coming'.  Our reply seems to have been 'Hmm - sounds fair.  Yup, I'll have some of that!'. The trouble is that, once you start, it's very hard to stop.

So - switch!  I feel like I have given up smoking without having given up smoking!

An electronic cigarette is a metal device that (usually) looks similar to an 'analogue' cigarette, and is composed of a battery (the bottom half of the cigarette), and a 'cartomiser' (the filter tip) which contains the nicotine and an 'atomiser'.  When you 'draw' the battery activates and the atomiser turns the nicotine into a vapour which you inhale exactly as you do with smoke.  It feels very similar to smoking, but - without the smoke!  Without the stink!  Without the carcinogens! Without the second-hand smoke!  And at a third of the price (usually less)!  The 'smoke' that you see is just vapour, like steam from a kettle.  An e-cig is not alight - it is powered by a battery!   But is vaping safe?  Watch this video:
